Over the last decade the internet has been an integral part of the African-American, LGBT and Hispanic marketing segment, going from underserved marketing niches to coveted marketing territory. Now we see a new burgeoning marketing group on the internet, the visually impaired. People are living longer, and as we grow older our sight diminishes allowing us to need new technology and standards on the internet. So, what do we do and how do we reach these new internet users? This session will discuss the next steps in providing consistent access to the web for these new users. Michael Cooper, a web accessibility specialist with the Web Accessibility Initiative (WAI) at the W3C will discuss the initiative and technology that will promote better user experiences for the visually impaired.
