Digital Music Pricing Strategies: What Works?

When iTunes first launched, the pricing strategy mimicked the physical pricing strategy. Now that the digital market has matured a bit and there are multiple stores to create products for, there are many more options to consider when releasing music. Metric found success in their D2C store, deluxe digital packages are all over the iTunes Top Albums chart, The Raveonettes believe in the multi-EP model between albums and the addition of tracks for $1.29 seems to have stalled the growth of digital track sales. There is plenty of data available to demonstrate what works and what doesn’t, so we’ll discuss the successes we’ve experienced and how we've refined the strategies that were not entirely successful.
