Everyone has experienced having to constantly adjust the volume on 'shuffle' due to differences between loudness levels of recordings. Most music services present music like at random, not as a professional DJ or FM broadcast station would. Songs don't flow together. This panel will talk about using audio processing to "remaster" music for a more consistent listener experience, and why this consistency is important for the listening experience. We'll also talk about the different challenges involved with listening to music in different environments such as in the car or mobile vs in the home. By looking at audio processing tools that over-the-air broadcasters (as well as some webcasters) use, we'll show how music services can improve on these aspects of listening by effectively re-mastering the tracks.
