Jacobs Media
Fred Jacobs founded Jacobs Media in 1983, when he had the notion that Album Rock could be fragmented with the Classic Rock format. Today, Classic Rock has become the most successful “new” radio format in the last two decades, and was listed as one of the top 35 most pivotal events in radio history by Radio & Records. Jacobs Media consults the leading broadcasting companies in America, including CBS, Entercom, Greater Media, Cox, Journal, and Citadel. The company also conducts research for public radio stations and companies, as well as Arbitron, while also consulting Vh1 Classic. Fred holds a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Michigan, and a Master’s from Michigan State University in Telecommunication. He served as Director of Research for the Radio and Publishing Divisions of Frank Magid & Associates, and later as Director of Research for ABC’s Owned FM Radio Stations. He was named one of the “100 Most Influential Broadcasters” by Album Network, and in 2006, was inducted as a member of the Michigan Association of Broadcasters’ Hall of Fame.
