Javier Gramajo is specialized in artificial intelligence and semantic web. He currently serves as President of the ICT Commission within the National Council for Science and Technology of Guatemala. He is a distinguished scholar, fellow, and has been published across 3 continents. Gramajo has been involved in over a dozen R&D projects since 1998, and his contributions have been valuable as visiting researcher in USP-Brazil, URV-Tarragona Spain, UM-Maribor Slovenia, UPC-Barcelona Catalunya, and currently is professor at USAC in Guatemala. He is also well known in his native Guatemala for his fight for the protection of intellectual property rights and recognition of scientists' contributions to society. In 2007 Gramajo founded fundaTICs which is a public-private hybrid incubator that has already spun more than 14 projects and most recently is working on the the SQMOS platform, which he helped co-found. Gramajo holds an MSc/DEA in Artificial Intelligence from the Technical University of Catalonia.
