Tero Ojanpera, Executive Vice President of Nokia Services, is applying the wisdom of the crowds to Nokia’s connected Internet services, known as Ovi, to ensure the next billion Nokia smartphone users have unrivalled and intuitive mobile experiences. Tero leads Nokia’s Services strategy to innovate beyond stand-alone apps, to a future of highly integrated mobile services and content, and to make this at the heart of all future Nokia smartphones. With Ovi, Tero is also building an ecosystem that offers developers, publishers and advertisers the opportunity to monetize their content and business models, and reach mass audiences in a hyper-local way. Tero has played a defining role in driving Nokia's evolution since joining the company in 1990. He has held several senior management positions including the Head of the Nokia Research Center, Chief Strategy Officer and Chief Technology Officer responsible for corporate and technology strategy, strategic alliances and partnerships, research and intellectual property rights. Tero has a master's degree from the University of Oulu, Finland, and a Ph.D. from Delft University of Technology in the Netherlands. Tero is married and has three children. In his spare time, he enjoys boating and skiing.
