Vlad Trifa

Vlad is a final year PhD student at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH Zurich) and a visiting researcher at MIT Senseable City Lab, where he explores the application of Web technologies and standards to build flexible and scalable infrastructures for sensor and actuator networks (the Web of Things). From May 2007 to Nov. 2010 he was a Research Associate with SAP Research Switzerland. In 2006 he spent a year at the ATR International Research Center in Kyoto, working on multimodal human-computer interaction, humanoid robotics, and computational neurosciences. Before that, he worked sensor networks to monitor and analyze bird populations in natural environments with the Center for Embedded Networked Sensing (CENS) and the Department of Biology at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). He has a MSc degree in Computer Science, with a specialization in robotics and artificial intelligence from the Ecole Polytechnique Federale de Lausanne (EPFL).
